Lindsey’s Logo’s

Posted by ler7c5 on February 21, 2007

The first logo that was brought to my attention was PODZINGER.  I think this logo was very bold and grabbed attention.  It also used clear distinct letter space and and wide punch width, which helps it read well to the viewer.

The next logo I found interesting was YOU TUBE.  It also had a very bold and straight forward font that created attention.  They also used different colors fonts, which drew my attention.  This logo also had very tall x-height, which makes it very easily read from a screen.

Another logo I liked was ebay.  It used a variety of color and placed thier letters in a way that draws the attention of the reader.  The font they choose was also very straight forward and sharp looking.  This logo was straight to the point and showed character in thier color usage.

Jeff’s Logo Review

Posted by jsbee on February 21, 2007

The logo from “Eventful” really got my eye because I felt that the font and colors went well with the word. The logo really looks eventful and something that I wanted to click on and learn more.

Another company that I felt had a good logo was Wikipedia. This is one of my favorites because I like how the first and last letter are larger then the rest. The font used also makes the logo look “smart” and professional. Using all capital letters is another thing that makes the logo stand out from many of the others.

Socialtext is a logo that I like for its very simple lines and the way it looks on the page. It’s clean look gets the reader to want to know more about the site. The image used in the logo is also simple but interesting.

Here are three links for the logos that I like. First off, I like Skype’s logo because its Helvetica™ Rounded Bold, which I have been a fan of Helvetica for a while. There is no wide letter spacing which I like but isn’t always a good thing.

I go to Sports Shooter everyday to look and read about photography. Which I’m not a fan of it is just a little too bunched up for me. SS.com and known for its logo, You can see it and know what it is from far away, I see a lot of sports photographer wearing it at sporting events and you know what the logo is if you are a sports photog.

Ebay is just a fun colorful logo that I like its just real simple letters in different colors. They are big and bold.

From the article from Stephen Coles, I liked the logos that he defined as being a “softie.” These use a soft rounded text in their logo like wayfaring and MySpace. I liked both of these logos because they are simple, yet engaging to look at. They help describe what the company is about by just looking at the logo alone.

Another logo that I liked was done by rabble. It used another rounded font, but also had a fun looking character to go along with it. The little character was kinda funny to look at and made this company seem like it was looking for a young audience.

Web Colors

Posted by aclr on February 21, 2007

I visited www.ae.com and noticed that they used the background picture of clouds to help put a focus on the center box with all the directional links to help you through the site. They used the white border for the main box. That white border is very clear and attention worthy against the cloud background.

Also, I went to www.ibm.com. They didn’t use more than the colors blue, black, and whie. They don’t need to have flashy advertisements or anything to catch your attention because anyone visiting their site will have questions. So I feel they did a good job in making all possible questions available at the beginning of the site so you don’t have to go searching for an answer.

I came across the Mary Kay website (www.marykay.com) and saw that they used a lot of hues and shading but primarily stuck with the classic Mary Kay color: pink (or light pink). They did use the black background on advertising for sales which shows exactly what they want you to be reading so hopefully you will buy a product.
