Interesting Art Blog

Posted by rlkyq9 on January 18, 2007

I found this blog that I thought was interesting because it focuses on what its like to be an art student.  It documents what it’s like to be just starting as a 20 year old art student at Art Center College of Design.  I think it gives a lot of insight to what he’s going through on a daily basis.  It’s also interesting because he has just started school there, so the blog is able to develop more over time.

Blood Article

Posted by johnkitners on January 18, 2007

I thought Blood’s article was interesting.  I too noticed it was dated from 2000, its interesting to see where blogging came from and how its evolved along with the internet.  I think as blogging and the internet become more user friendly, we may see even more and more people begin to blog.

Tech and PR Blog

Posted by jsbee on January 18, 2007

One of the blogs that I found is called “Talking Tech”. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch publishes this blog and newspaper writer David Sheets is the main writer for the blog.  David has posted about some really unusual new technology and stories that you may not normally hear about in the media.  He is also a very good writer, which makes reading his blog fun and enjoyable.  In a post he made on Jan. 17, Mr. Sheets describes a new type of clothing that you don’t have to clean.  I thought this was very interesting and a new product that I was not aware of.  The post about Adobe software was also very interesting to me, because I use so many of Adobe’s products.

Another blog that I liked was on Public Relations. The blog is called the newcommreview and has company leaders, professors and media writes all talking about the world of public relations.

One blog I found to be interesting was under celebrity news. The show Ugly Betty that is broadcasted on TV won best comedy at the Golden Globes, the woman who plays ugly Betty turned out to be very pretty outside of the show. This seemed to shock a lot of the public. There was also another article concerning appearance. The new look for woman seems to be beachy keen, which is an effortless look that really is not so easy. It actually takes a lot of time and effort to wear the look.

New to Blogging

Posted by pasch on January 18, 2007

Similar to most of you I have never blogged much less subscribed to one. Upon looking for one that sparked my interest the first thing I looked for was something NFL related. With the season over at least for my team (KC Chiefs) I thought something to do with the 2007 Draft would be perfect. I ended up subscribing to NFL Draft Site. You should check out this blog if you are at all interested in college or NFL football.

Commentary on ShoppingBlog.com, “CFDA Tackles Anorexic Model Issue — Sort of”

Posted by kak343 on January 18, 2007

Through BlogLines.com I managed to subscribe to another blog called ShoppingBlog.com. Once at ShoppingBlog.com I found a post regarding anorexically thin models and a discussion on how the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CDFA for short) are cracking down models that are too thin. The council has decided to join in somewhat on the European ban of waif-like models. The blog further elaborates on how the Council did not specifically say anything about banning too-thin models, but how they would like models to be educated on eating disorders, walking the runway at too young of an age, and simply wishing that sickly models receive treatment. I think it is wonderful that America is addressing the issue, but they, in my opinion, are not really cracking down on the real issue which is the notion that models must be UBER-THIN to take on modeling careers. Wishing and hoping will not push those with and on the verge of serious troubles into healthier situations. I find it sad that we have to worship the skin-and-bone look and inevitably teach the younger generation to dislike themselves.

Here is a link to the blog, CDFA, so those of you interested can read on.

EDIT : made the text a hotlink

A little digging online uncovered Live Music Blog, which reports on upcoming performances of all sorts of bands, reviews live shows and new CD releases, etc. If you’re interested in jazz headlines and CD reviews, I’d also recommend Blog-O-Jazz.
